Wishbone

Wishbone is a gentle 11 year old boy who came to Westie Rescue through the Dumb Friends League.  He was left in the night kennel with a 2 line note that said "We just can't care for Wishbone anymore.  He's 11 years old".

Wishbone spent a month trying to get well at the DFL.  He had sneezing and a cough.  He had moderate dental disease, which was treated later by our rescue vets.  He then went from the DFL into a Westie foster care home.  Wishbone is now in good health, with some natural discharge from his eyes, which is wiped clean every couple of days.

Wishbone is house trained.  He has also learned to come back in through the dog door, and to go out through it, but loves having the door opened for him and will wait for you if he thinks you are coming to do that.  As a last resort he will use the dog door to get outside.

He has not demonstrated any aggression toward the 3 other male Westies he lives with at the foster home.  Loves to play with the youngest one, which is only about a year old.  Wishbone met and basically ignored the two cats in his foster home.  He'll sniff them but from all appearances is totally non aggressive toward them.

Wishbone loves to jump up in your lap (mostly uninvited, which can be a big surprise since he is 26.5 lbs).  He like to be close to humans, but is comfortable just laying around on his bed.  Meals are his favorite time, and he gets pretty excited about them.  Wishbone loves to walk, and he is a good walker.  Definitely one of the highlights of his day.

Once Wishbone settles into his environment, he relaxes enough to actually play.  I don't know if this is because the other members of the pack are playing too, but he can get into throwing his bone up in the air, and squeaking the little pink elephant.
